New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) first ever initiative to provide question papers for class IX final exam across all its schools entered into a fiasco recently with schools asking similar questions with examination on different days.

The Board, coming up with 300-odd question papers for each subject for 11,000 affiliated institutions in the country to ensure uniformity while conducting summative assessment, underwent the loophole.

It although streamlined the question papers but failed to do the same for a common exam schedule, which lead to identical question papers on different days.

Students of St. Cecilia Public School, Vikaspuri, as a result, on February 26 were distributed math question papers, which were already attempted by students of Holy Child Senior Secondary School in Tagore Garden on February 22.

Acknowledging it as a teething trouble to implement Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) both the board and schools realised the pitfalls of its implementation.

CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said that, "CCE is a new concept for all of us. We are open to all kinds of changes as and when any problem surfaces. This pitfall will be covered for the next summative assessment," and added, "But there will be no re-tests for now."
