SECTION –A
(PHYSICS)

  1. What does the path of an object look like when it is in uniform motion?              (1 mark)
  2. What do you mean by buoyancy?                                                                           (1 mark)
  3. “A body having zero velocity will not necessarily have zero acceleration. Give an example to support this statement.                                                                          (1 mark)
  4. Why does an object float or sink when placed on surface of water.                       (1 mark)
  5. In what direction does the buoyant force on an object immersed in a liquid act?  (1 mark)
  6. A car covers 2/5th of distance with velocity V1 and rest 3/5th of distance with V2, then calculate the average speed of car.                                                                        (2 marks)
  7. A student is standing at a distance of 50 metres from the bus. As soon as the bus begins its motion with an acceleration of 1m/s2, the student starts running towards the bus with a uniform velocity of u. Assuming motion to be along a straight road, calculate minimum value of u, so that the student is able to catch the bus.                                           (2 marks)
  8. A particle travels 10 m in 1st 5 sec and 10 m in next 3 seconds. Assuming constant acceleration, what is the distance traveled in last 2 seconds.                                 (2 marks)
  9. A ball thrown vertically up reaches its maximum height h in time T, the proved that at time T/2, its height is 3h/4.                                                                                    (3 marks)
  10. A particle moving in a straight line covers half the distance with speed of 3m/s. the other half of the distance is covered in 2 equal time interval with speed of 4.5 m/s and 7.5m/s respectively, then calculate the average speed of the particle.                             (3 marks)
  11. Why is the weight of an object on the moon 1/6th of its weight on the earth?      (3 marks)
  12. If a bullet losses 1/mth part of its velocity when passes through one wooden plank then prove that the least number of planks(n) required to stop the bullet is given by
n=m2/2m-1.                                                                                                                  (5 marks)
