REST AND MOTION

  1. An athlete runs along a circular track of radius 50m. Find the distance traveled and the displacement of the athlete when he covers 3/4th of the circle.
  2. A boy runs 100m along the east, then he turns to his left at right angle and runs for 50 m along the north direction. Find the distance and the magnitude of the displacement of the boy.
  3. A boy walks on a horizontal road and travels 2.5 Km with constant speed of 5 Km/h. then he returns to the same point and walks with constant speed of 7.5 Km/h. what is the average velocity of man during the whole journey. What is the average speed of the man over the following intervals of time (i0) 0-30 min (ii) 0-50 min (iii)0-40 min.
  4. a boy walks on a horizontal road with a speed of 2 Km/h and reaches the market 3 Km from his home. Finding the market close, he instantly returns and walks back home with a speed of 3 Km/h. What is the average velocity of man and the average speed of man over the interval of time 0-90 min.
  5. A boy reached a railway station 4 Km away from his house running with a uniform speed in 1.0 hour. He took rest for 0.5 hour at the station and then come back to his house with a uniform speed in 1.5 hour. Represent the whole journey of the boy by a time-displacement graph and determine the average speed.
  6. A boy runs straight in the east direction. He travels 100 m in 20 sec. Calculate his average speed and average velocity. Are both equal.
  7. An athelete completes the circular track of 28 m radius in 10 s. Find this average speed and average velocity.
  8. A boy is moving with a uniform accereleration of 10 m/s2. If its initial velocity is zero, calculate the displacement after 5s..
  9. A particle is in motion along a straight track. As it crosses a fixed point, a stop watch is started. The body travels a distance 180 cm in the 1st 3 sec and 220 cm in the next 5s. What will be tis velocity at the end of ninth second?
  10. A car at rest accelerates uniformly to a speed of 144 Km/h in 20 sec. How much distance is covered by the car?
